Slingshot past the roundabout and bounce Down Valley this weekend for Carbondale’s Mountain Fair. In it’s 47th incarnation, you can expect to have the time of your life because this summer festival’s got it going on! Friday jumps off with a community drum circle, followed by a toast to our A-mazing Firefighters, and then Jackson Emmer takes the stage to play his celebrated songs starting at five (Rolling Stone loves this local, and so will you if you don’t already)!
The annual weekend highlights include dunk tanks, delectable treats, icy beverages and world-class local artisans! But as you might of guess, Messenger’s always sweet on music that we can shake, rattle and roll our booties to…and this year’s lineup is no joke. So crawl outta bed, grab Ink! coffee and cruise down 82 before 11am. You’re in for a day of dancin’, jammin’ and groovin’ to beats that range from bluegrass, to country, to rock, to funk (with DOWN NORTH who “create a dance explosion in the park!”) Uh…yeah!
And if that’s not enough for you, Sunday promises a whole, new dance card—Ley Line, a quintet of female musicians laying down harmonies and Jarabe Mexicano electrifying with Latin music using traditional mariachi instruments and English and Spanish vocals. Closing the Fair down from 5-7pm, The Dendrites delivering instrumental ska with their 4-piece horn section and a 4-piece rhythm section that’ll make you feel like you’re in Jamaica!
We’ll catch you on RFTA! And if you can’t decide what to do first, check out the Mountain Fair program guide to make a game plan!
